How to Apply

Step 1 - Apply

• If needed use only mild soap and water to clean the area. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL OR ACETONE.
  
  
• Dosage: 1g of cream is approximately equal to a 5cm length of cream squeezed from the 5g tube and 3.5cm from the 30g tube.
  
  
• Adults, the elderly and children 12 years of age and older: apply 1g–2.5g of cream to cover an area of skin 2.5cm x 2.5cm (1”x1”). Do not leave on skin for longer than 5 hours.
  
  
• Children 2 to 11 years of age: apply 1–2g of cream to cover an area of skin 2.5cm x 2.5cm (1”x1”). Do not leave on skin for longer than 1 hour.
  
  
• Do not apply to large areas of the body except on the advice of a healthcare practitioner.
  
  
• Place the cream directly onto the dressing, and then place the dressing with the cream onto the procedure site ensuring a no touch technique.

Step 2 - Cover

• Cover the LMX4® Cream with an occlusive dressing or plastic wrap to prevent the cream being accidentally rubbed off the skin.
  
  
• Apply the dressing carefully sealing it around the cream without directly pressing or spreading it.
  
  
• Once the LMX4® Cream has been applied do not spread the cream by pressing on it as this can reduce the dose applied and the effectiveness.
  
  
• After 30 minutes of the LMX4® Cream and dressing being in place, sufficient Lignocaine (local anaesthetic) will have penetrated into the skin, making it feel numb.
  
  
• If no occlusive dressing is required, depending on the procedure, you may need to increase the length of time that the cream is on your skin. Read the alternative instructions on the package leaflet enclosed.

Step 3 - Remove

• After 30 minutes the dressing can be taken off and the LMX4® Cream removed with a clean tissue or gauze and the procedure area prepared as normal.
  
  
• If the cream has dried out or there is residue remaining on the skin, clean the area using a small amount of soap and water prior to preparing the area for the procedure.
  
  
• Clinical studies have shown that LMX4® Cream will cause less skin reddening or blanching than other commonly used topical anaesthetics. Please read prescribing indications on reverse before using LMX4®.
